So I've finally come down from my Nano high and am having to cope with the realities of housework, cooking and christmas shopping once again. Yuck!

In order to cheer myself up I've signed up to do NaNoWriYe next year and fully intend to reach the 300k goal that I've set myself. If I don't keep you informed about it, feel free to hassle me! ;-)

On another, um, 'good' note, I somehow managed to win the Cambridge region's Worst Sex Scene Competition. Still not sure how I did it, and the fact that I organise the competition means that I have to present myself with the prize, which feels a little odd to say the least. :-)

My Dad seems to be going from strength to strength, and is right back to how he was before October, which is great.

The only downside of the past few months is that due to my Dad being ill all the way through October, and my commitments to Nano during November, I have had no time whatsoever to get any work done for my OU course. As a result I've written to my tutor and told him that I will not be submitting the first assignment tomorrow. I spent an hour on the course forum last week reading through all the complaints about the course from some of the other students and to be honest, I'm now 90% sure that I'm just going to drop out of this course completely and sign up again either next autumn or the year after. I always knew that taking a course in its first year of presentation was going to be hard (I've done it once before), but this one is particularly bad in my opinion. I'll step back and allow them to sort out of the errors and then come back to it.

Besides which, I haven't had a break from studying since I finished my MSc in 2002 and I could really do with getting away from it for a while. It's not as if I don't have anything else to fill my spare time with after all. :-)

I'll wait until January to make a final decision though. I am talking about losing nearly £400 after all.

Well done on the nano , and pleased to hear your Dad is improving.

Sounds like a break from study is overdue :)

Are you a travel fan?
Might be worth seeing some of the world while you can

That's good news about your Dad :-)

I think you're doing the right thing with the studying too. Like Hippo says, it sounds like you're overdue for a break!
