loribaI'm back from my week in Cornwall, with a 95% complete second draft of Rising Angels and a desperate desire to rob a bank and buy the house we saw on sale down there, just for the views and location.
The draft is only 95% complete because it still has a few issues, namely:
several areas that require a bit of research;
a few areas that have POV issues that need to be solved;
a couple of places where I've mentioned someone or something and then they've never been mentioned again, which isn't good.
I also have to cut the number of words by around 20k, as 117k is a little too long for this kind of story, but we'll have to see how that goes. Taking out one of the two sex scenes that are left might help (porn is so good for Nanowrimo as it really increases word count but is normally unnecessary for the finished story) but one of them tells us such a lot about two of the characters and I love the other one because it parallels the first so perfectly.
Ho-hum. I'll leave it in the drawer until Nanoedmo I think and concentrate on something else for a while. It's always a good idea to take a complete break. Gives you a fresh perspective.
